The beauty of Dancesport is that competitions are available to dancers of all ages and levels. Beginners are compared against other beginners, and similarly advanced dancers compete against other advanced dancers.
There are 3 main divisions of Dancesport competitions:
-
Amateur couples: 2 students partner up to compete against other student/student couples
This is a great way for adults and children to get into an athletic challenge, as well as share practice time and training
-
Pro/Am: a student partnered with his/her instructor, if they don’t have a partner to compete with
This division of Dancesport is ideal for those who don’t have a partner, or those whose partners don’t share the same passion. In this case, your practice and training are spent one on one with your instructor.
-
Professional couples: 2 professionals partnered up to compete against other professional couples

"When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It's to enjoy each step along the way"
